I am a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Yale University.

My research examines the drivers of national identity, national attitudes, and nationalism, with a particular emphasis on multinational contexts.

In my book project, Nurturing Independentism. Movements and Parties in Secessionist Context, I examine the cooperation, cooptation, and confrontation dynamics between pro-independence movements and parties and their impact on individuals' support for independence.

I am also interested in the relationship between the economy and nationalism. My research draws on experimental and observational data to study the influence of economic crises on national attitudes and the effect of diversionary nationalism on individual assessments of the economy.
