Hello! I am a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Yale University, where I also serve as Director of Undergraduate Studies.

My research examines the drivers of national identity, national attitudes, and nationalism, with a particular emphasis on multinational contexts.

In my book project, Nurturing Independentism: Movements and Parties in Secessionist Contexts, I examine the dynamics of cooperation, cooptation, and confrontation between pro-independence movements and parties and their impact on individual support for independence.

I am also interested in the relationship between the economy and nationalism. My research draws on experimental and observational data to study the influence of economic crises on national attitudes and the effects of diversionary nationalism on individuals’ assessments of the economy.
